Induction, 3rd Baby
Hey all! I’m currently 36+3 weeks along with my 3rd and am going to be induced at 38+5. I’m hoping others can share their experiences with being induced when it wasn’t their first delivery. What was the method of induction used? How long until you went into labour? How was your labour experience? Etc.
My first two labours were different from one another… with my first, I was in labour for 2 days but wasn’t dilating, so I was induced (water broken and oxytocin) and had an epidural, then BAM! baby was born 3 hours and 7 pushes later. With my second my water broke at home, 3 hours later I went to the hospital and an hour after I got there I was holding my baby. Both happened pretty quick, but I don’t have experience with induction starting from zero, so I’m curious if it’s generally a really slow process or if it’s much quicker if you’ve already birthed one or more babies?
The plan for me is to be given a pill or vaginal suppository the night before to prep my cervix, then the next day, if I’m dilated enough, have my water broken. Then I can opt for epidural, oxytocin etc. I’m nervous that the prep the night before will work too well 😳 or induction day I’ll be waiting around the hospital room all day waiting for labour to progress lol!
