Do you douche before anal?

Is it better to douche or enema before anal sex? My husband played with my butt pretty rough yesterday with a toy and after 30-60 minutes it wasn’t pretty. And he wants to insert himself tonight. Am I supposed to douche before? Does it make it hurt more? Experiences please. Thanks.
