At what age and size did you switch your kid to booster seat?

My 6 year old is 50 lbs and probably somewhere around 3’9-3’11 and I’m wondering if it’s time to switch him to a booster seat. I’m really worried about if just the seat belt instead of the harness will be good enough if we were god forbid going to get in a bad crash. What age and size did you switch your kids to a booster seat?

It depends on the weight and height limits of their car seat. My daughter just turned 6 in January and we switched her to a high back booster seat that later converts to just the sest part. She is 42 pounds and around 45 inches tall.

When he was 8. He’s 9 now. He’s finally 65 lbs because he’s so athletic and active.

Kids usually exceeded the height limit before the weight. Mine all switched around age 6.

My kids each met the height/weight limits during the summer before first grade. So my son was almost 7 and my daughter was 5 1/2.

My daughter is turning 7 in April and I just switched her to a high back booster seat. She’s petite and weights about 43 lbs. this is the one we got for her.

Check the limits of the current seat. Usually 5pt harness have a 40-50lb weight limit. If child reaches that limit then you switch to a high back booster seat. NOT just the booster itself.
