Doctor throwing stuff at students

I'm a surgical tech and we have some students that are doing their clinicals. One of the doctors got mad at one of the students because he mixed up what time he was supposed to go on his break. She's been going through stuff. I get that. She's over shares a lot about her miscarriage. Her son's left to go live with their dad. She tells everyone her whole life whether they want to hear or not. Well she got mad and THREW AT SCALPEL at that student and scared the shit out of him. She said she wasn't trying to throw it at him. Just in his general direction. Scalpels cut through SKIN AND TISSUE! You shouldn't be throwing anything in an OR. Let alone a scalpel! The head of our surgery department is saying give her space. I feel like this needs to go to HR
