Hope I'm not spending my baby shower in the hospital

I called the doctor today because I'm having dark brown clumps of old blood coming out when i go to the bathroom and when I wipe. I was spotting light brown for the past week, and the doctor told me to go on bed rest, but if I'm still bleeding to call him. I'm 33 weeks and I'm scared he will tell me to go to the hospital, and possibly have to have her early. I know it sounds so petty, but I don't want to miss my shower that's in a few days! I have low lying placenta, so I know spotting is a symptom, but this is more than spotting now, and I'm freaked out!!
