NIPT Testing- how many of you have taken the early screen test at 10 weeks?

I took this test when I was pregnant with my first child and it was mentally taxing for me. The results that I received were my son had Edwards Down Syndrome (trisomy 18) and I went to a high risk doctor and they told me to consider termination wellll come to find out my son didn’t have trisomy 18 and the doctor told me “yeah sometimes those tests aren’t accurate” but the mental stress was a lot! So I’m debating whether or not to test this time solely for the gender but a little apprehensive

Weird that they told you he had Trisomy 18 and to immediately consider acting on it as the test is not considered diagnostic. It’s supposed to just tell you if you would benefit from further testing. Sounds like your doctor was the issue there.

I had the same experience as you and now that I know I’m expecting again I’m not sure I want to do the test. Even after going to the MFM Dr and getting the all clear I spent the whole second half of my pregnancy still worried about everything. I haven’t yet decided what to do.

My last pregnancy was a tri18 baby. I was sent to a specialist. When I made the appt I was told the results are right about 30% of the time. I was in the 30%. I was to see the specialist at 16 weeks and only made it to 15 weeks. I did d&e and was told she did have it after she was sent out for testing. I am definitely testing this time around. I want to be prepared if it happens again.

Yeah I took it both times since my insurance covers it and I wanted the genetic testing as well as knowing gender.
