Mammogram results.. what do they mean?

I’m waiting for my doctor to call me back.. I have high family history of breast cancer so I’m kinda freaking out🥴

Is this your first mammogram? They should have have explained this is normal- looks like you have dense breast tissue and they want to be sure there are no masses. Needing further imaging isn’t abnormal for first timers.

It means they are recommending an ultra sound and 3d images for a better look.  It could be you have dense tissue which many women do.  It’s nothing to freak out about.  My doctor schedules mine for 3d imaging from the start bc of a history in my family.

If you have dense breast tissue, that makes it difficult to see anything on the mammogram, so they are going to send you for a ultrasound so they can get a better look. ￼Sometimes asymmetry could indicate a cyst, so it's just another reason to have the ultrasound. ￼It doesn't mean the cyst is anything bad, it can be normal. ￼I have both dense breast tissue and a benign cyst in my left breast that has been there forever. ￼￼No history of breast cancer in my family. I wouldn't worry about it too much. ￼
