i asked my boyfriend to stop having his mom cut his hair. the haircut looks really bad and other people make comments about it too. i just cringe when i see him even though he is very attractive. i didn’t say anything rude to him, i just told him that in my opinion the haircut looks bad and that i would rather him get it cut professionally. he expects me to shave my entire body every week and maintain a certain weight, so i just assumed that i also deserve an opinion on his appearance. when we were in college, he went to a barber and his hair looked really good. he has a very attractive face, his mom just cuts it awkwardly and with no layering. the front is very long while the back is way too short. he got mad at my request and called me rude. i just want to be able to enjoy looking at my boyfriend’s hair again. he told me that he is afraid to tell his mom that he doesn’t want her to cut it anymore. she gets very defensive and assumes people are attacking her. it can get really annoying when someone disagrees with her so i understand why he is scared. she has cut his hair all his life. and i love her but she is very bad at cutting hair. i am also a very opinionated person and i think he should respect my request since he expects me to put in a lot of effort into my appearance. but i also want to know if i am coming off as rude. lmk.
