What age would you let your child watch movies like scream?

That's going to be highly dependent on the individual child. One may be able to handle *chill* horror flicks at 12, but the other still has nightmares from Toy Story 3 at 12.

Honestly not before 16. I’ve never seen movies like that and I have zero desire to. My husband and I don’t want horror in our home. I would rather them not watch it till 18 however I do believe at 16 more freedom is fine.

Depends on the kid, but as a general rule, 14+. I just saw a relative post on Facebook that she took her kids (ages 5 and 9) to see the new scream and I was baffled.

I watched scream for the first time when I was 4 🤣 my sisters were babysitting me and they sat me down and made me watch it 🤣 it was my favorite movie. But if my kid wants to watch something scary I let them. If they’re scared I’ll turn it off. My 4 year old like Halloween this spooky season 🤣 we haven’t quite made it to something gory like scream though

I wasn’t allowed to watch rated r movies until I was 17. I’d secretly watch them at a friends house or on Netflix, but idk. I probably wouldn’t be cool w my kids watching rated r stuff until 15/16.

Depends on the child. When I was 5, my favorite film and miniseries were Lake Placid and Stephen King's Rose Red. Never had a nightmare in my life. Every time wed go to the store to rent a movie, I'd pick out a horror one. But I am ptobably like a 1% of chikdren who can handle that stuff. That being said, if i knew my child was was easily frightened and couldn't handle it, I'd wait until they were ready.

My parents never had a limit on what I could watch. They didnt believe in sheltering. I could read whatever I wanted. I could watch scary movies at 6 and I could play grand theft auto by like 7. I am a law abiding citizen. I pay my taxes. I work full time. I really think its all about maturity. If they can show maturity why put it off till 16 or 17 especially since some of the older scary movies arent really scary just kinda cringe.

My parents never had age restrictions on movies and stuff, and my siblings and I all turned out fine. So maybe when my kids show interest in it? And can show me it won’t affect them? Idk lol. I’m new at this 🤣
