Hi everyone so I recently took a break from the healthcare field to return back to teaching preschool and I’ve been in the childcare field for about 9 years before leaving to work in the hospital after graduating college. So I’ve received my old job back from the academy I was at two years ago and they offered me more money so I accepted it. Now I know how the germs are with kids same like the hospital so I knew I was going to catch something but I didn’t expect it to be this quick. I’ve only been back for two weeks and caught a viral infection where my throat was supper inflamed like I had strep so on Thursday morning I was supposed to head to work but before work I took a quick trip to the urgent care thinking it was gonna be a cold or something & the doctor tested me for everything & said it was an infection and that I had to be on antibiotics for ten days and liquid lidocaine for five days for the throat pain. So I immediately texted my director letting her know what was happening and that the dr wanted me out from work that day and Friday (we communicated beforehand about my schedule and me being at the dr) and she was very upset about me missing day’s. In one of her messages she claimed that I wasn’t allowed too miss all of those days , and how it was protocol that I returned back 24 hrs after starting my antibiotic etc etc. and she even said that it was probably the “new school” germs and how everyone got it so I was saying to myself if u know how common it is for us teachers to get sick why are u making it such a difficult deal for me. So the next morning around 6:30 am when I got up to use the bathroom I seen a message from her asking if I was feeling better enough to come in to work & when I replied back saying I was sorry but I wasn’t feeling well still she never responded. So I know tomorrow when I return she’s gonna have something to say. How do you know if you made the wrong decision when it comes to returning back to a job? I have other interviews coming up that’ll be happening after I get off. My schedule was 7:30-4:30 but now it’s 9-5. Also they’re short staffed everyone I was working with two years ago are all gone except 3 people.
