Considering going to the doctor and need some advice

So me and my husband (23 and 22 respectfully) have been trying for children for 10 months. So far we have been unsuccessful, even though we've been very active and following my fertile window forecasts. He has suggested going to the doctor to see if there's anything wrong, but I keep putting it off. I'm scared that I'll hear the words that I've been fearing hearing since we had our first let down. So I'm asking when you guys went, who you asked, gp or specialist, and how to cope with hearing those words of I do? Please help, and thank you
