Advice?
Hey guys.
I know I should contact my GP regarding this but their not open until 8:30am tomorrow and was just looking for some advice.
So just abit of a breakdown without going too much into it. I got an ultrasound last January (2022) and was told I had fatty liver, however blood tests since have showed normal liver function results and doctors aren’t concerned.
Around 3 months ago I got told I had low iron and was prescribed iron supplements which I’ve been taking since as I’m still low. I was doing some research into this fatty liver, it’s never bothered me until now. Basically my step dad died suddenly a few months back and I mean very very sudden that we are all still in shock and as a result of this I have extreme health anxiety and always think there’s something wrong with me. SO, I found that milk thistle helps fatty liver, so I started taking the capsules. I’ve been on them for 5 days now.
I was doing further research (which I probably should’ve done before taking the supplements) and seen some reviews of people saying not to take milk thistle if you have low iron as it can stop this from working. I didn’t think much of it until today when I took a urine health test that detects your liver & kidney function, blood in urine, PH etc and my blood was positive. After looking into this it says this can be used by the red blood cells not breaking down properly and causing a positive result of red blood cells in my urine.
I mean this could be nothing but do you think I should stop the milk thistle? If my liver function tests are normal then surely the fatty liver isn’t a cause for concern? Just worried if I continue them, it may cause me to become anaemic if the milk thistle is contradicting the iron supplement? Or is this just a myth and I can continue them?
