Depo Birth control injection prolonged bleeding

Hi,

I got on the depo provera injection to help reduce my excruciating period pains. After getting the shot, my period came a week late but now I’ve been bleeding for 8days instead of my regular short periods.

I know this is not an uncommon side effect but does anyone know how long the bleeding could take? What to use to stop the bleeding?
