Would y’all be irritated?

My husband is a big family man and by family I mean his family. Anyways, he told me he wants to name our son either after him, his brother or dad. It’s so frustrating. He won’t help me decide on another name either. There is no compromising with him. All the names are not so great. And his brother ￼annoys me and his dad doesn’t even talk to me… why would we name our child after that?

Just tell him how it is, you don’t need to sugar coat anything. Explain it’s your child too and you don’t like the names and you’ll be saying it the rest of his life so you’d rather be happy and choose one that isn’t so biased to his family

I don't know why men assume they have the final say in picking the child's name. Stand your ground girl. Legally you both have to agree on a name so its not like he can fill out the birth certificate by himself. We're having a son and my husband and i spent months coming up with a name that we both liked. I did however let him decide on a middle name and he picked his late grandfather's name to be the middle name.

Maybe compromise and put it as a middle name? I had the same problem but my partner wanted his dads name as the middle name which is Carl I’d tell him to piss off as a first name 😅xxx

Sorry, probably unpopular, but I’m under the belief that it’s great to consider dad’s opinions and definitely think they should have a say, BUT to me, mom has the final say. Mom is the tie breaker, the one that makes the tough call. I want to hear my husband’s input and his ideas, but as the one who is sacrificing so much of myself to make this baby, he understands. If it something he absolutely hates, I’ll let it go, but if we’re on the fence and we’re closing in on time, the vote goes to me. If it’s something I absolutely hate, it’s a no for sure. I’d be annoyed just because I think women are already taken advantage of in every aspect of our lives, degraded and expected to automatically be responsible for things that no man would ever just do. The least they can do is let us have the final say in the baby’s name. They want the baby to have their last name, then we get final say on the first and middle name. Sorry not sorry.
