Herpes on thigh( warning graphic)

Someone plz help! My doctor diagnosed this as herpes but no one can give me an answer as to how it ended up on my thigh or ankle . It’s very painful. I’ve been doing research but come up with nothing and I’m freaking out . Plz no judgement. Has anyone ever heard of this being in this location. I also get this on my ankle as well.
