What ruined a name for you??

Don’t be shy, share a name that you used to love but then something ruined it like popularity, bad nickname associated with it, or whatever the reason. Or maybe a name you’re tired of seeing lately. Can’t take offense if someone lists a name you ended up using or still like, we all have different opinions and experiences! This is just for fun.

I teach and every Owen I ever met had constant meltdowns and big feelings and that name is just done for me.

I love the name Nathan, but went to school with a Nathan who ended up being a convicted rapist who assaulted a girl I knew in middle school. Sooo… will not be using that name.

Sonya. I work with one and she is an absolute nightmare. Just looking at the name annoys me these days.

I mean it’s not necessarily ruined for me but I had a coworker who’s baby was born around the same time as mine, both boys, do the same name with diff spelling. I adore this girl but I couldn’t believe she would do that. My son’s name is Xavien (Zay-Vee- An) and she did Zayvien….🙃

Fallon it's so pretty but I went to school with one. She wasn't really mean but I remember one time I was drunk and she was asking me questions like "do you think im nice?" "do you like this person?" "do you wish we were friends?" Gave me bad vibes. She got prom queen too and for some reason I feel like people will think I purposely name my kid after her lol

Seamus. I've always liked Irish names and all of my children have Irish/Celtic names. My mom's friend in High School had a son named Seamus a couple years older than me. He was always in trouble- bad grades, slept with multiple girls in our small church.youth group, had a kid with one of them, was a deadbeat dad, etc. I'm so tired of hearing his name followed by my mother's ranting about him that over a decade after leaving home  I still won't consider it for one of my children despite loving it.
