Anyone’s kids have ocd?

Well I don’t have ocd exactly, but I have some obsessive tendencies. My mom is the same as me, and my MIL (toddlers grandma) actually has diagnosed ocd
I’m kind of wondering if my 2.5 year old has it. She has some repetitive behaviors. Once she has something in her head, it’s like she has to complete the process. If we try to break her routine, she will finish it when she gets the chance. For example, she will grab a certain toy and ask us to say the word (she’s a bit speech delayed). Then she will touch the toy with her hand then bring it back to her mouth, like she’s kissing it. If we break that routine, like grab the toy before she can kiss it, or grab her hand or something, she will bring the toy to her mouth the second she gets the chance again, even if it’s like 30 seconds later. It’s like the idea is in her head and she can’t get it out til she does her routine. I feel this way sometimes with the obsessive thoughts I get, so I feel like I know exactly how she’s feeling
They have brought up the autism possibility, mainly due to her speech delay. But I just don’t think that’s it. She loves people, and she doesn’t really have many other symptoms of it than the speech delay and repetitive behavior. 
Also she’s kind of a perfectionist. She gets upset if she can’t do something properly and gets frustrated easily.  Like doing a puzzle or something, if she can’t do it correctly immediately she almost seems embarrassed by it. We don’t make a big deal or react or anything either. It’s just how she feels if she can’t do something right away. Or if she realizes she said a word wrong, she acts embarrassed by it almost. She didn’t start walking until she could do it almost perfectly. She was 14 months but she wouldn’t really try, even taking a couple steps until she felt totally comfortable then all of a sudden she was walking all around the room like it was nothing. My parents were with us when she did it, they were laughing saying she’s a perfectionist, she could walk this whole time, she was just waiting until she got it down perfectly 
I did a quick google search and saw ocd in toddlers is a thing, so just curious if anyone’s kids have this and if this sounds like ocd to you

Early intervention is key no matter what it “is”(ocd,adhd,autism) mix it up break the routines and make it ok everything isn’t done perfectly.

My son is diagnosed ocd & he has similar tendencies. He has a speech delay & global developmental delay as well. He lined up toys & would sort by color regardless of how you were trying to get him to sort (by size, type, etc.). Since he couldn't speak we wouldn't realize what he considered a routine at 2. He would start screaming & be inconsolable. If we didn't step on every paving stone to the car we would have to do it again. I had to be the 1 to wake him up. If we unfolded his clothes, they had to be refolded for him to unfold. He had sensory issues & didn't like to hold hands or touch anything like slime or playdoh. When he had meltdowns I had to force hug him basically & do pressure massages on his back to calm him. It got much better when he could talk. Potty training is still frustrating, though. Until last year at 5 he would have accidents at school bc he didn't want other kids to mess up how he had his toys set up. His teacher came up with the amazing idea of putting a sheet with his name on them. Now we've transitioned to not needing it. I've got tons of others lol. But early interventionist, developmental pediatrician, speech therapists, & the right teachers who specialize in special needs kids has been helping him make amazing progress!

This is interesting! I don’t really have advice but I’m curious if you get any other responses. I think some of this could definitely just be personality or normal toddler stuff but interesting to notice and try to inform yourself especially if there’s a history in the family. My husband has some obsessive tendencies and I’ve noticed some things in my son, 2.5, that I have found interesting and have taken note to keep an eye on. He is very strong willed and really struggles to distract away from something when he sets his mind on it, he won’t let it go. He has developed a few little things like every time he goes down the slide in the backyard he hits the side of the wall before going down. The one I’ve found the most intense though is that he has always held our hand for comfort, snuggles, to settle down, and to fall asleep and when he was younger and as he’s gotten older especially when he’s falling asleep he links and unlinks our fingers over and over and over again because it doesn’t “feel right”. It got to the point I had to stop letting him hold my hand for bedtime (which he was not happy about) because it would keep him awake doing it over and over. I have perfectionist tendencies and no concern for OCD and my daughter (5.5) showed signs of being a perfectionist really young and I’ve had to counter that with parenting, I have no concerns for her with OCD but we have had to pour into her extra that it’s ok and good to make mistakes, celebrate them! That her progress is perfection, the heart she just drew IS perfect even though it doesn’t look like mine. Really focus on you CAN do things that are hard, push through it, you are awesome even when it feels hard as you’re frustrated. Lots of validation and encouragement. She’s in the past year and a half gotten a lot better about not needing the perfection and being less hard on herself and less naturally frustrated with things that don’t come easily.

Hmm I’m not sure if it’s OCD. My toddler is 2.5 and does this in some ways but I think it’s more of an independence thing. Like if I want her to shut the door and I shut it she reopens the door and will shut it. Or if we’re changing her for bed and I take off her clothes and on her pjs she’ll scream until she put her clothes back on so she can take them off. She also has things about who gets to walk through the door first or go up the stairs in her specified order, if we don’t do it right it can lead to a tantrum 🙄 but to me all of that seems more independence/control stuff rather than OCD.
However, since you have such a strong family history of OCD I do think she may be at higher risk for it. I did consider if my daughter has OCD, I have anxiety and my mom is bipolar, but I think my daughter doesn’t have obsessive thought or consistent compulsive behaviors. That kissing thing your daughter does, does seem a bit compulsive. If you are wondering, you should take your kiddo to get tested by a child psychologist.

I don’t know anything about ocd in toddlers, but not walking until they have it down is normal, my daughter was standing for months and then right around 15 months started fully walking and never crawled again lol. Repetitive words and actions and being a perfectionist at that age is also pretty normal🤷🏻‍♀️ she totally could be ocd or have autism, but I’ve seen these traits in totally neurotypical children as well

I have diagnosed OCD and my son who is almost 15 behaves in the exact same manner. The therapist that we’ve been seeing has diagnose my son with OCD as well but has said that it’s a learned behaviour from me. Because I’m so over the top, unfortunately and I like things are very specific way, and that has been that way his entire life he has essentially learned to do that instead of spontaneously happening. 
I do see the frustration with it as well, because obviously he does certain things, and even though I do the exact same thing, sometimes I get annoyed with waiting for him to be finished with his process as they do with me so I now see how frustrating it is to be Around somebody like me LOL I drive everybody mad ￼

My child see me clean, so he has to clean with me or after me. Like I didn't do a good job. But idk if that ocd.
