Is it too soon to get another dog?

My dog died suddenly 2 days ago and our other dog passed away 2 months ago (both seniors, but sudden). However, it has been hard to process their grief because my sister also died unexpectedly 1 month ago.

Honestly, we have been thinking about getting another dog since the first one died two months ago, but now that we just lost both of them, I worry that it will seem too “soon.” I know I need to grieve my late dogs, but I keep following a local shelter and seeing that they are “full” lately and desperate to find forever homes for these dogs.

Is it ever too soon to rescue another dog that needs a home?
