Is sex supposed to be painful for men ?

Ours was an arranged marriage. Though we talked about our interests we never had a chance before marriage. Whenever My husband and I are trying to have intercourse for the past 10 months he says he is having pain . Though he tries we never had fully satisfactory sex . It always seems like a struggle . We both wanna have a baby soon but I feel this is going nowhere . Earlier days of our marriage he used to give reasons like am too dry or my vagina is too tight or I give more pressure to his cock if I try giving bj. I am pretty sure those were all just reasons to hide his issue . I have been begging him to talk to a doctor but he keeps saying he is shy to go to a doctor regarding this . Can someone suggest me what to do
