I think it helped maybe? I don't know... I found it comfortable to sit on instead of the couch, kept me moving and helped my back alot! But I don't know exactly how I went into labor. My mother was always past her due date, so we're my two sisters. All had to be induced. 
I was super surprised that I went into labor at 39 weeks and 5 days. 
So I think the ball helped(:

You'll find you know your body best when IN labor. The scientific theory that swiveling your hips on these birthing balls 37 weeks and onward will help the babies position and help the baby while beginning into labor to move his/her head down in the right position seems to ring true for me and other mommies out there. I found personally in early labor that this was a miracle worker to keep my contractions going and keep my mind on my leg movements and television more than the pain that was going on. Then into my second stage of labor it continued to help cope with the pain and bring my baby downward and helped position him I believe. Of course when his/her head starts coming down you might want to move on to another idea because having the pressure of sitting going against the pressure of the baby pushing down usually isn't anyone's idea of a party. I bought one for my house paid less than $10 and I used it daily for like 30-60 min. It definetly can help your hips and help baby position itself correctly!

It didn't induce labor. I went almost 42 weeks. It hurt too much to sit on during labor.
