I have a family member that recently had a baby. She wants me to travel down to her country (Dominican Republic) to meet with lawyers for her to release her rights to me, so I essentially adopt the baby. I’m assuming that I can’t just bring the baby back with me, right? So would I have to file for the child after receiving rights? Being that the baby is newborn, how long would that take?
