My two year old was diagnosed with autism level 3

The child psychologist said that he has a little hope that my son will progress and believes he is level 3. He said it’s possible, but based off of what he seen today he believes that he has the severest level of autism.

We are a little nervous about this because after his observation with my son, he suggested that “ if we weren’t trying to interact with our son, that my son would have no interaction or interest in us (his parents)” my son is very loving and affectionate & is constantly looking for me. Loves cuddles. Makes eye contact with people he’s close with (& me all the time) but he has no form of communication yet. He doesn’t play like other kids, but he seeks interaction with others like wanting to be tickled, giving kisses, hugs, peek a boo forms of play Etc. He doesn’t talk and doesn’t try to communicate with other gestures or anything yet, and is just in his own world, which was the doctors main concern for diagnosing him with level three.

I feel like recently he’s been doing a lot better with being more aware of his surroundings and just interaction in general. He literally just turned 2.

Is there any way that this diagnosis could be wrong? We just don’t think it’s the severest level.. I am obviously not a professional, but everyone around him can see how much he’s learning in the past few months alone. This just scares me.
