Copper IUD; falling apart and copper poisoning.

I posted yesterday about some concerning things I’d seen in my menstrual cup and it was suggested that my IUD might be to blame. It looks like the copper wire has disintegrated and has been falling out with my period- I’m awaiting an appointment to get it checked.

I ended up doing some looking around online and there are loads of horror stories of the Paragard IUD breaking whilst it’s still inside the body which is terrifying. I also saw a lot of articles regarding the dangers of copper toxicity and how Paragard have gotten into some controversy because of the lack of clear warnings about this.

Anyone had any personal experience of either of these?

I’m not normally one to read something and self diagnose but my health has gradually gotten worse and worse over the past several years (Ive had the IUD for just over 5 years and have been experiencing frequent migraines, anaemia, loss of libido, depression, joint pain, and brain fog/memory issues, to name but a few) now I’m wondering if this could be the root of it. I’m not thinking that I have copper poisoning, but I’m intrigued to see if anyone has experienced a turn in their health that ended up being related to their IUD.
