Birth control and the awkward moments

Patty Anne

I can remember being at children's hospital when I was diagnosed with PCOS and I will never ever forget being told I'd A) likely never have children and B) that the pill wasn't a few license to have sex willy nilly.

I'm sitting there thinking, "Good Gods woman, you LITERALLY JUST DIAGNOSED me with a disease that REQUIRES** a hormonal birth control; at bare minimum, to control the symptoms!! What if I needed anti androgens?(Or metformin, it any of the bar other hormone balancing drugs associated with managing this life long disease) Would she have said "this isn't a free license to stop shaving young lady." No, she wouldn't have.

"he kept repeating that prescribing any sort of period-stopping medication to an adolescent female would give me the idea that it was OK to sleep around and have unprotected sex with numerous partners." — Tumblr user 420swagcat"

**personal opinion, I'm very well aware and am.usually in awe of the women who manage their PCOS sans prescription drugs. That method does NOT work for me, and this is after a decade + of trying everything and finally finding the right formula 2 or so years ago.

Hoping the link works this is an excellent article from Mic.com!
