When to pump?

Question

I read that you should pump when you are away from baby but I never am but will be. I want to stock for future use. I have tried pumping one side after she eats on thr other but then she is hungry an hour later and I'm worried I wont have enough in my breast for her.

I always pump on the opposite side she feeds at. So every 2 hours when she feeds on one breast, I pump the other! Then I have extra for when she needs a bottle

It's fine, if you don't have quite as much as she wants in your breast, that's how she raises your supply (by nursing when you don't have quite enough). That's what's always happening. Your body only knows how much to make based on how much gets taken out. She might be a little bit hungry that one time but she'll just make your breasts make more.

If you want to start making a stash I would suggest after you feed her to pump on the side that you just fed her on. You may not get much at first but after a little time your body will start producing more.
