Anyone have a VBAC or repeat c-section? Want to hear good and bad experiences!

Question

Has anyone on here had a VBAC? (Vaginal birth after c-section) and if so how did it go? Was it successful or unsuccessful? I wanna hear good and bad experiences. Or if you’ve had a repeat c section and chose not to do VBAC, did you regret it? And how was the recovery process? I had a c-section just over 2 years ago due to my son being frank breech, I’m currently pregnant again with my 2nd baby and my doctor has asked at a couple of my appointments if I’ve thought about my birth plan yet or want to try VBAC or just have a repeat c section but I can’t decide.😅 my dr thinks I would be a good candidate since the reason for my c section was not a maternal factor, I think I would like to attempt VBAC but I would just be so nervous.🥲 I wouldn’t mind another c-section as my first went very smoothly but recovery will probably be harder this go around since I’ll have a toddler and a newborn at home. I’m just scared of something going wrong with a VBAC and my worst fear is ending up needing an emergency c section and being put to sleep or something.😩 the more research I do on the risks of VBAC the more I talk myself out of it. If anyone would like to share how theirs went I would appreciate it!

I’ve had 2 successful VBACs and am hoping for my 3rd in a few weeks! I had a c-section almost 17 years ago due to failed induction and the recovery was tough for me. The recovery for both of my boy’s natural births was so much better and I felt back to myself much faster.

I had a repeat c section and it was a great experience. I was able to plan out the day and time of the birthday and was able to organize everything for the birth and have a babysitter in place for my daughter. I know no one wants to chose surgery over a natural way but for me it was honestly the best decision. My first was an emergency c section and I had so many staples and hard time healing but my 2nd one was a breeze in the park

I have had repeat C-section and I def ding regret it.  Recovery was no different from my first.  I’m pregnant again and will have another section.  I delivered three previous babies ‘naturally’ no complications before my first section and I’ll never choose to do that again xx

I really wanted a VBAC and my hospital were really supportive. In UK but was hoping for a water birth and could've been on their midwife led unit (for low risk pregnancy and mothers who want little to no pain relief). Sadly had complications at the end and an emergency c-section. My hospital did a really good video with the risks for c-section Vs VBAC and it was pretty even. My second c-section recovery was so much better, but even if I'd known that, I would've still wanted a vaginal birth if I could've (second c-section was nothing to do with previous birth and just incredibly unlucky).

I am hoping for a VBAC because I believe recovery will be better and I would like to experience a natural birth. I had horrible postpartum depression the 1st go around and an extensive recovery. I feel like my gut was messed up or something with my digestive system was put back in wrong. Took 8-9 months for my stomach not to burn internally and get random pains in it every time my digestive system was working.

First pregnancy was elective c-section.  Was amazing and have zero regrets.  Pregnant with twins now and already made it quite clear I want a repeat c-section.  I have zero desire to push out a human.  Healing from surgery was easy and plain ibuprofen took care of what little pain I did have.  Hoping this time goes as smoothly.  I am having my fallopian tubes completely removed this time, but hope it doesn’t cause any extra pain.

I haven’t but my ob has had every kind of birth. Vaginal.  Vbac. C section. She’s totally healthy and fine. Best wishes

I have had 2 successful VBACs and am planning my 3rd. The first was lightly medicated, the second was unmedicated at a birth center. I had a very supportive team with my husband, midwife and doula. I think your team and mental preparation are huge factors. Good luck in whichever you choose 💕

I had a repeat c-section and if I get pregnant again, I will choose another repeat c-section. But I’m also not a candidate for a VBaC due to all my high risk factors.
