Head cold remedies?

I have the worst head cold and can't get any kind of relief through bath, shower, sinus massage, etc. My doctor said to stay away from Sudafed, which I usually count on to feel better, so I don't know what to do. I'm miserable and barely functioning. Any advice?

My OB (actually several of them) said Tylenol and sudafed were fine, as long as the sudafed was just for a couple of days. I've takn it with both of my pregnancies and everything has been fine.

Cough warm water with lemon n salt drink slowly.  Or honey n cinnomion with little lemon.  Upset stomach baking soda n water

I was told Tylenol and sudafed pe was ok by a pharmacist. I'm questioning that now as I look online there so many varying opinions on if sudafed is safe or not or if sudafed pe is safe or not. 
I have a cold now too and am at a loss for what to take. My nose is raw from neti pots and still not better.
