When does child support money go through

So i file yesterday and want to know when i will get money? I have 2 little ones. One is 2 and the other is 1. Their dad left us didnt want nothing to do with us . I hope they take money outta his check .. or idk how does it work for me to get paid. .  When will i get paid. I do have a job yes but not a great one im making ends meat and he makes more than me and doesnt give me a dime. Sadly.. im heartbroken about all this but i gotta move on and get whats right …. Does he have to sign papers too and corporate? Because i dont think he will give me anything… but i hope they will make him take it out

Typically they don’t just take money out of his check. They tell him what he owes and give him the opportunity to pay on his own accord and if he doesn’t then you can report it and they may garnish his wages but it is a tedious, slow process. If he refuses for a long long long time to pay he can serve time or get in trouble w the law but again it is such a tedious process that most moms just give up. If you just filed yesterday I wouldn’t expect it any time soon. It can take a week or two to process, get an amount set up, and get expectations implemented. Courts move slow so it could be a couple weeks

It is a variable for everyone, and their algorithm for determining payment amount depends on his salary, your salary, if & how much you pay for health insurance and/or daycare or other childcare expenses. If you’re hurting for food, call your states’ nutritional supplement program/cash assistance program and apply for emergency assistance which can potentially get you assistance in 4 days if you qualify. In regards to it being removed from his check, the state can enforce child support garnishments through the accounting department of his employer to come out of each paycheck, presumably every two weeks. This will be sent to your local child support enforcement agency, which will deposit it into your bank account once a month.

You will have to go to court and establish a child support amount and payment plan first before you start receiving any payments. And before that they will have to locate him and serve him paperwork about the court date etc. Idk about all states but where I live it unfortunately takes a very long time. I tried to get child support on my child’s dad and had to wait on them to serve him which took over a month, I had to wait months in between court dates and I ended up just dropping it and not going through because of how long it was taking.
