Can you ask to be induced?

I don’t WANT to be induced at all. However I’m due July 1st, and I want to make sure I have my baby not on July 4th. Not just because it’s a holiday but because it’s my husband’s father’s birthday who passed away recently and we just don’t want a day that is supposed to be happy to always have a bit of sadness to it… although it would be neat we just don’t want our son to always he reminded of the important person he never had the chance to meet. That being said, will doctors allow you to be induced for that reason? I hope I naturally go into labor before then but just to make sure.

Let your body do it’s thing when it’s ready. Induction should be for medically necessary reasons only. 
Having a child born on a deathiversary isn’t sad. You should be celebrating life that day anyway. Not mourning death.

You can ask anything you want. Whether the doctor agrees to it or not is another story. And then comes the issue of insurance approving the induction since it’s elective. Talk to your doctor about your options.

Many/most doctors will allow elective inductions starting at 39 weeks. Many/most insurances will cover it, but it’s always good to double check.

I can't imagine a doctor would offer induction unless medically necessary to avoid a certain date. Induction can take days anyway and due dates are only an estimate so you could go past 4th July on your own. Unfortunately babies come when they are ready.

My due date was 4/13 and when we went past that date I was scheduled to be induced on 4/19 at 8pm we weren’t ecstatic about having a possible 4/20 baby so we asked to change the induction date and they were able to push it 1 day forward so I was induced on 4/18 at 8pm instead. Well, guess what? We still ended up having a 4/20 baby lmao 🤣 she was born at 00:05 on 4/20. Still super happy either way just funny that after changing things it still ended up going the way it ended.

No my Dr does not do elective inductions for obvious reasons. Its simply not good for your baby, or your health. Whats best is that you go into labor naturally. Baby could come after the 4th anyways. All my babies were late.

Be induce is not fun, you can get a day or days on drugs and on pain and you can end so tired to push when the time comes for being in hospital for days. I loss a baby last year and my due date this year is close to what should have been my baby due date last year and I'm wishing this baby born on that day to honour my poor baby. If you baby born on this special day, take it as a meaning, as a sign. We haven't teach about dead as part of life and will should remember the people gone with happiness.
