Hiring a doula?

Question

Anyone plan or have hired a doula? Ill be 38 weeks on Sunday, and I have concerns about my doctors not honnoring my wishes to vbac. I've read that having a doula can be really helpful. I don't even known if it is too late in the game to hire one, but share any experiences you might have with hiring one, and how it made a difference in your birthing experience.

I hired a doula, she's been great. Helped with the birth plan, obviously will be there for labor and delivery, will help with lactation, two postpartum visits, etc etc.

Hiring at 38 weeks is super late to the game, but some doula groups actually have last-minute services available.

Suggest googling "birth doulas of [insert your city name here]" and see what you get.

I was going to hire one but I spoke wth my midwives and they said if the only reason. I wanted one was to ensure a vbac, there was no need because non of them will push me into a section. If you have an unsupportive doc I would absolutely suggest a doula.
