What are the best brands out there for super cold weather coats and snowpants? What do you recommend and please tell me the typical winter temps in your area so I can make the comparison.

We have experience with Columbia which we actually have liked a lot. My son has outgrown what he had last winter so looking for whatever options are out there now in outlets/clearance but just not familiar with the other brands.
