How many words by age 2?
Did your child have 50+ words by age 2? My pediatrician said that’s the norm but my son did not have 50 words by then. Honestly, I’m not sure he has 50 words now and he’s 2.5. At his 2.5 appt we saw the NP instead of the Dr. and she said he was right on track. I’m just not sure what to think now. He says stuff like “all gone” “more” “go bye bye” “stop” “eat eat”, “night night”, etc. He knows blue, green, yellow. But he barely answers questions. If you ask him what he wants he will either whine until you figure it out or point/reach for it. He doesn’t ask you to get up, but tries to lift/drag you off the couch. He follows direction really well, when he feels like it. I can tell that when he doesn’t it’s a matter of not wanting too vs. not understanding the instruction. Does this sound normal or does it sound like a speech delay?
