Breastfeeding is a great way to get baby to go to sleep, but it seems like maybe baby wants to sleep while still on you, which I know is super exhausting. My daughter used me as a pacifier. I would try unlatching baby once their sucks become more like flutters while they nurse and they seem like they’re asleep. If baby stays asleep when you unlatch them, I would hold them for a little bit and then carefully lay them down wherever you are having them sleep. 
I personally think breastfeeding is way easier than pumping milk and putting it in a bottle, but if you want to train your baby to use a bottle so you can catch a break sometimes, I highly recommend trying Lansinoh bottles. They are the only bottles my daughter took because they are closest to what our nipples are actually like. And when you try the bottle, mimic your typical nursing routine, just give the bottle instead of your breast. And make sure you don’t fill the entire nipple with milk while feeding baby. You have to help baby pace so they don’t get used to a fast flow and start refusing the breast.

It’s not biologically normal for a baby to sleep like an older child or a teenager. My daughter nurses every 30 minutes at night at 3 months old. At 20 months old she still nurses 2-4x a night.

The answer is: because she's a baby. Mine does the same and she's 18 months old. They are babies and we want them to be independent as if they were teenagers.
