My husband's vasectomy FAILED!!!!!
My husband got a vasectomy last August after I had our 3rd child last April. We both agreed our 3rd child was our last for numerous reasons but especially since each of my pregnancies seemed to have more complications and risks for my health and the babies health seemed to go up with each pregnancy, each baby was also born earlier and smaller than the baby before. We decided a few weeks ago that since he was nearing the 1 year mark it would be nice to get another semen sample tested for some peace of mind that he is still shooting blanks. He was given the all clear with a semen sample that was tested 8 weeks post vasectomy and was told he had 0 sperm present at that test. Well we got the test and sent it to the certified lab. Three days ago we got results that read "MODERATE/HIGH sperm seen in sample contact your physician to discuss results". We were freaking out but also were hoping by some miracle it was a lab error. So I immediately ordered the Yo sperm testing kit from Amazon that is done at home and you actually get a video of your sample. We did the test last night and much to our disbelief and horror there are in fact sperm swimming around in my husband's sample!!!! Now he received a very low "Yo score" and was told he has less than 6 million per milliliter so chances of conceiving naturally are extremely low, but we all know it only takes 1 sperm!!!! We are definitely upset and don't know what we are going to do next besides contact his urologist pretty soon. I have just started pelvic floor therapy for prolapses (uterine, cystocele, and rectocele) and was told I don't have great odds of avoiding surgery so we might wait and see if I require a hysterectomy before we decide what to do next in terms of long term birth control options. I am just blown away bc the chances of failure are so incredibly small (like 0.01%) and his urologist not only cut but also cauterized each end of each vas deferens! I told my husband that maybe he should play the lottery. We both agree that we are happy that we found out this way and not from a positive pregnancy test!
