Salmonella poisoning

I accidentally ate undercooked meat yesterday (24 hours ago) and my research tells me salmonella poisoning can take up to 72 hours for symptoms to appear. My question is has anyone experienced food poisoning so late?

Also, if you have experienced food poisoning what was the rough timeline in terms of first symptoms to full blown vomiting/diarrhoea? For example, if I run errands tomorrow will I get enough warning to head home? I'd hate to get stuck in a public bathroom (or worse, not find one!)
