Has anyone else ever experienced this?
I'm currently 12 days postpartum. I'm a fourth time mom now. I had a natural water birth with a midwife at my local birthing center. It was an incredible experience, and everything went very smoothly. I did not tear at all, and have been recovering faster than my previous postpartum journeys.
At my last postpartum appointment with my midwife that delivered my baby, I was 10 days postpartum. I asked her if it would be safe to swim on anytime soon, since I had no tears and did not have a c-section. Her response was "Oh yes, of course. You had no tears, so no risk of infection... I was also going to tell you that you can resume sex with your husband, if you haven't already done so". I didn't really respond to this because I was so shocked. Sex 10 days after giving birth?!?! I've never heard of that! And no, I still have not resumed sex yet. If I'm being honest, the earliest I've ever had sex after birth was around 5 weeks postpartum.. and even then I thought that was early because I was still a week away from getting checked. My question is: has anyone been told this by their healthcare provider? Whether it was a doctor or midwife, etc.?! I'm actually curious.. especially since I have seen many people claim they have gotten pregnant as early as 3 weeks postpartum... And I'm starting to understand why it's more common than you would think 🤔
