pros and cons of nexplanon?

i got off the pill because of major brain fog and just needing a detox. i’m looking into other forms of birth control rather than just condoms because i have a mass fear of pregnancy. i use condoms and pullout right now which i know is generally safe but i digress… i’m just nervous of getting back on hormonal birth control because i heard the iud really sucks and nexplanon is second best with effectiveness

Loved it in! No periods small weight gain at the start lost it within 10 days. Absolutely hated what it did to my body now I have post birth control pcos (can confirm I didn’t have pcos before the implant). It took 4 years to fall pregnant with fertility medication. I know many others who also has the same issue after the implant

I personally absolutely hated the nexplanon implant! I hated it so much I actually got it removed well before the 3 year mark. I gained about 20 lbs and the only difference was that I had the implant. I had a ton of break through bleeding at first. And then my cycles were just all over the place and I literally had no idea when I would have a period. Sometimes I would go 6 weeks without a period and then bleed for 2 weeks straight then sometimes I would bleed again 2 weeks later. I definitely bled more than I didn't bleed. I was completely miserable so at about 18 months with it I had it removed. Which the removal was a nightmare as well! My midwife was able to locate it just fine but it created adhesions so it didn't want to just slide out like it normally would. She had to make multiple cuts and dig around to get it out, my arm looked absolutely awful from it! Thankfully I'm not one of the women that had issues conceiving after having the implant, about 4 months after I had it removed my husband and I decided to try for a 3rd and by the 2nd cycle of trying I conceived our 3rd, but I have heard that difficulty with conceiving is a common side effect. I never recommend the implant to anyone when they ask me about it.

I had Nexplanon in for 4-5 years? I liked it. Only complaint I have is the first year is when I had a lot of emotional issues & light bleeding pretty much most of the months. It was light enough for me and my partner at the time to continue having sex. Only the first year was the bad part that I had to stick it out to see the benefits. ( every body is different though! ) Personally when I got off it, i did get my period shortly after and I continue to have it every month since being off it for almost two years! I originally got it out because it was time and because I was not that sexually active anymore to be needing it in.

Ive been on the implant for 4 months now. I have hormonal migraines that link to my periods so this was the best option. Pro is that the migraines are less. Con is that I’m still in the 6 month leveling period and I’m day 32 of bleeding. It is meant to level out at 6 months tho.
