Anyone else not want a baby shower?

I'm a FTM and don't feel that I need a baby shower. I would rather purchase the things I need rather then having friends, co-workers and loved ones spend money. Is this normal?

I hate attention! The though of people staring at me whilst I open their gifts frightens me lol I won't be having one for that reason x

I hate the attention. My wedding ceremony literally lasted 2 minutes. Do you, do you, OK kiss you're done.  I don't like being the one everyone is looking at! !   But we are kind of counting on the generosity of others to get us the stuff we need for the baby. Everything is so expensive! !!!

I don't like showers either, but a lot of people love helping and buying things for baby. I would let people shower you with gifts, less for you to spend.

I hate attention and we are planning and preparing to buy everything ourselves because I wouldn't expect people to buy me a bunch of gear and stuff. However I figure that we tried for to many years to get pregnant, we are celebrating the growing baby inside me with a baby shower! Plus right before I got pregnant we moved about 3 hours away from home, so this is my excuse to go home for a day and see all my friends and family!! I always loved the games and fun stuff done at baby showers too so I am really looking forward to it!

For me I probably wouldn't have one because the wedding is so close to the baby but I didn't have a bridal shower so I am able to have a baby shower. It's my first baby. And I bought all the important stuff. I just need clothes diapers and bottles. Lol

I had two with my first. A surprise one at work and a friends one. Both were quite awkward! Especially the work one. I had executives barely knew giving me a wipe warmer- lol. With my second my friends threw a low key dinner and that was nice. I haven't decided what I'll do for my 3rd. If I find out gender and it's a boy then possibly since we have 2 girls but otherwise no.

I totally get this. We're going to have a party to celebrate the baby and our new house, more of a get together with lots of food, drinks and friends. I hate being the center of attention and don't like making people feel like they need to buy things.

I asked for a book donation instead of presents and cards. Quite cheap and very personal for baby :-)

You could always have a baby shower but just request that they bring gift cards if they are going to bring anything.

We don't do them really in the UK although people have started doing them for other people. If someone organised me a surprise one if be ok with it but I would prefer to organise a little girly tea trip / catch up before I can't for a while!
