Calling all spice-loving mamas! We've all heard the old wives' tale, but is there any truth to it? Let's discuss whether eating spicy foods can actually induce labor. Share your stories and opinions!

Unfortunately, no. If your body isn’t ready, it isn’t ready. Only two things have an evidence to support them doing anything. Nipple stimulation——a lot of it, can cause some contractions. But I wouldn’t recommend. Semen from intercourse is supposed to have the potential to get things going too.

From what I was told it will only help if labour is already near. It aggravates your rectum which is connected to your uterus, a bit like when you have loose stools around your period! I for one am worried about having diarrhoea AND labour symptoms 😅 sounds like a lot to deal with

I’ve been craving spicy foods my whole pregnancy, and not a single labor sign for me yet.  35wks now, but everyone is different!

I’m going to say no. We’re a bicultural family so we eat a lot of Mexican food = homemade spicy salsa with everything, it didn’t do anything. I mean maybe if your body isn’t use to it 🤷‍♀️ I’ve heard women say pineapple helps induce labor too but who knows.
