Need honest opinions on my nails

So I am going with my family on a cruise in a few days, we are planning on taking family pictures while we are there. I wanted to get my nails done before we go for the pictures. I work as a peds nurse so because of that I don’t wear acrylic nails anymore. My supervisors have told me it’s fine to wear gel polish on your natural nails though. Either way I would wear gloves for work, but even then I don’t want my natural nails to be long either because they could poke through gloves. Anyway, that is my reasoning for not getting acrylic, I would like to grow my natural nails out just a little bit more though and it still be acceptable for work. I went to the nail salon and asked if I could just get a French manicure on my natural nails. The nail tech gave me such a hard time, and she kept repeating “oh my gosh I’m gonna try to do your nails but no promises because they are short” she kept saying that over and over, and I would reply something like “haha yes, I plan to grow them out just a little bit longer but I don’t want acrylics” but after a while she kept saying it over so I just didn’t respond at that point. I like the nails now but because of that encounter now I feel very self conscious about my shorter nails. The tech said I might as well have waited until I could get acrylics, even after what I said about work to her. We will be gone on the cruise for two and a half weeks plus the travel time, so that would be enough time for me to have acrylics for pictures and still be able to soak them off before I go back to work. It’s just that I really didn’t want to do that, but now I’m thinking my natural nails are just gross and won’t be good for pictures. I’m not a nail tech so I wouldn’t know but I have seen people get just gel polish on even shorter than my nails and they came out fine, but again I’m not a nail tech so I wouldn’t know.🤷🏼‍♀️

So my question is, am I just over thinking and my nails are still cute even though they are short? Or should I get acrylics and then just soak off before I go back to work? I really did think they were short but cute so I am just bummed out now. No wrong answers I would just appreciate someone being honest and tell me how it is lol.
