Strike!

✈️

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike for several months, and now the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) will follow starting at midnight. This means most new television and movies will be delayed until they settle.

The major concerns are technology related.

•Artificial intelligence technology which can simulate a performer’s likeness or a writer’s style. In particular, there are fears this will be done without consent.

•Streaming services vs traditional tv and movie releases. The shift has result in lower pay, and many believe it is turning the industry into a “gig economy”.

Do you support the strike?

What could possibly be done to protect workers with the new shift in technology?

Have your viewing habits switched from movie theaters and cable to streaming services, and is it a positive or negative shift?

Sorry to use twitter 🤢, but I thought Mara Wilson’s tweet was a good explanation of how some working actors are experiencing financial difficulties.

***My pictures have been posting weird lately, but only sometimes? IDK, but if someone could let me know if they can see these, that would be cool***
