A friend of mine went to the hospital at 3 am with her 1 year old child because of a high fever. After four hours of only sitting in a room and only a urine sample done- the parents asked to be discharged because the nurses checked twice at two different times and ways and the fever was gone. The doctor wanted blood work just because the baby is not up to date on vaccines but 6 nurses came in all at different times and nobody could find a vein. At the initial greet with the dr she said the blood was not needed now she is switching and saying it’s needed. But the parents no longer wanted baby to be stocked due to no nurse finding a vein. The dr called CPS on my friend and the worker came at 11 am and they had just gotten home at 7:30 am from the hospital. Now there is an investigation ongoing. The claims are “child neglect” saying they are putting the baby in danger by not having blood work done. AMA (against medical advice) form was signed but that’s because the dr agreed and said it was okay because baby was no longer showing any signs of sickness.

What should they do?
