Weed and custody?

I'm posting to find out anyone else's experience with this. Basically my BF smokes weed. He has a custody and visitation hearing coming up. If his ex accuses him of smoking weed will that be the end of him being able to get visitation with his child?  He's not a bad dad and the ex lets him have his child whenever she's not mad at him but as soon as she gets mad about something, she keeps the child from him. I've never seen him smoke weed around his child but yes he's a smoker.

If it's illegal then yes, it most likely will be a huge problem. Try and talk him into talking to a lawyer and taking steps to show the court he is quitting

If it's illegal where you live then yes it will. He will be drug tested and that will turn everything upside down. Tell him to stop

If it's illegal where you live then yes. It will be an issue. I don't understand why people can't just abide by the law. Whether you agree with legalization or not, weed is not legal currently so don't act like a victim when you get caught and have consequences for it.

Have him quit smoking weed up until everything is over and done with legally. They may order a test.

The guy who lives above my boyfriend lost his visitation rights due to smoking weed (still illegal in Canada) and his drinking.

My boyfriend has been living with the noise of his trantrums since.

Yes as sad as it is for something that should be legal anyway ( I'm not a smoker by the way I just think out of all the things out there that are so harmful and legal that weed which isn't harmful and helps so many dif things should be ) it will be a prob he needs to stop long enough to go to court and get a custody agreement on paper that his ex can't disagree or go back on and also if he quits then it doesn't matter if she tells the judge he smokes if he passes a drug test she can't prove it and they will grant him legal visitation rights. Not to mention if he pays child support legally she HAS to let him see his child by law regardless of whether or not she is mad at him. I HATE mothers that hurt their children by keeping them from their fathers simply because they are mad especially if the dad is a good father. That is dead beat and wrong as hell for a mother to do that

If she makes an accusation it's at the discretion of the court. My sons father tried to say I smoked weed even though I didn't and they feted me

Its illegal so it absolutely could cause problems with his visitation. My friend lost custody of her daughter for 7 months because she failed a drug test for weed after someone turned her in for doing drugs. She had to go through steps to get her daughter back. She got her daughter for a few hours one or two days a week and then gradually she got more days and then finally she was able to keep her overnight on the weekend. Only then did she get her back. and she still had to take random drug test for 6 months.

Truthfully it won't affect anything. Before it was legalized in Colorado my ex was drug tested. He came hot on weed, benzos, and cocaine and the judge still ordered that he get visitation
