Link but not Lincoln?

My husband and I both love the name Link, but we don’t like naming him Lincoln and then using the nickname Link.
Would it be weird to just name him Link? Not short for anything?

Not weird, but you’ll definitely get asked about it all the time lol. My middle son is named Theo and almost everyone always asks “oh short for Theodore?” Nope, just Theo.

Personally, I want my kinds to have full ass strong adult names, that we can use nicknames with to be casual. But that's just how I feel.  If you guys love the name, then it doesnt matter and you should go for it!  My uncle just named his son Alex, I thought it was Alexander for the longest time, but honestly, their call.

If you like it then I say go for it. 
My partner’s name is Joe, not short for Joseph. Sometimes people assume it is but he said it doesn’t cause many if any inconveniences. 
I also have an uncle Will (not William) (his middle name is also just “F.” Like an initial but that’s his whole middle name). 
Especially with a name like Link, I think it can stand for itself very easily, it isn’t too ubiquitous as a nickname. I like it!

No that's not weird! My son is Lincoln but we call him "link" sometimes as a nickname. I love the nickname and chose Lincoln with that nickname in mind.

Nope, not wierd at all. I think people will assume his name is Lincoln. I had a student named Sig and immediately thought his name was Sigmund.
