Help! I think my baby is going on a nursing strike
I have a 9 week old, and recently started pumping and introducing the bottle.
Now he prefers the bottle over the breast and refuses to latch. He will start to cry whenever he gets close to my nipple like he knows I’m going to force a feed or something even though he has been showing all the hunger signs; lip smacking, tongue out.
I don’t know what to do, it sounds like he’s going on a nursing strike? I’ve been doing some skin to skin contact, and I haven’t used the bottle since. But it just becomes a stressful situation because it feels like I have to force him on the nipple and he cries. Do I have to wait till he’s starving, like 5 hours instead? Will he be more inclined to take it then? Will hungry babies take to the nipple or will they fight till they become overstimulated and I’ll need to give him the bottle?
Would appreciate any advice !
