Will your baby be getting vaccinations?

Question

The more I read about vaccines the more nervous & angry I get...my hubby & I have agreed to postpone them at least until she starts preschool. But then I get scared that she will be exposed to a disease, get super sick & I'll regret her not getting vaccinated. She won't be around other kids or lots of ppl since I'll be a stay-at-home mom & she's our first.

I need opinions & reason behind opinions please ❤

I was nervous to vaccinate my first son. The articles you can find on the Internet are super scary. I finally just decided to trust the dr and not the "tmz" of the medical world articles found on the Internet.. Ps, huffington post is not a medical article. My son is now 3.5 and he is totally normal and healthy and happy and smart and social and doing awesome. Infact, he just learned how to ride his bike without training wheels yesterday at 3.5 years old. My second son, also had all vaccines right on schedule and he is even more advanced than my first son and wants to do everything my oldest does. He walked earlier, he's talking in scentences, riding a balance bike like a pro and super social as well... He's 22 months old (not quite 2 yet) Vaccines are available to protect our children and our community. Vaccines  are NOT a conspiracy to harm our little kids. I am a stay at home mom and I felt like maybe I could keep my kids in a bubble until they were school age too, but quickly changed my mind about that the first time I went to the market... They will be exposed to every germ imaginable whether you are super good about sanitizing or not. When my second was born, there was a huge measles outbreak where I lived and I was so upset with the anti-vaxxers because they chose to allow the spread of it by not vaccinating and they were putting my newborn son at risk (who was too young to vaccinate) for a potentially deadly disease. Yes, some people should not vaccinate.... But if you have an otherwise healthy child, then please vaccinate. Do not let the Internet bullies try to scare you with their articles on what they believe to be true about the vaccines. Talk to a dr you trust. And consider the source of your information.

I worked at a daycare where EVERY infant in the infant room got
Chicken Pox because one of them came in contact with a non-vaxer who had it. Babies are not able to be vaccinated until 18mo, so about 8 of them got it, and it was passed on to a 3yr old and a 13yr old, both vaccinated. I would rather have my child go through 5 minutes of the pain of a shot than givin them a life threatening disease. Plus, the statistics of your child getting autism are inconclusive and unreliable. Not worth the risk for me.

I am a special education teacher and I am going to have all my kids vaccinated. The person who originally said that vaccines cause autism falsified his research and has been discredited. So many children have died or been horribly ill because they were not vaccinated. Please vaccinate your children. If you are worried about too many at once you can talk to you dr about spreading them out a bit over a few moths instead of getting them all at once. I have worked with so many special needs kids and none have autism because of a vaccine. There are more risks for long term issues if you do not vaccinate than if you do.

Some doctors will do a delayed vaccination schedule where the child still gets vaccines as an infant, but instead of getting so many at one time they are a little more spread out. I am considering trying to find one to do this because I do think it's important to have my child vaccinated, especially with so many people not vaccinating anymore.

Vaccines are crucial to keeping kids healthy. Unless there is some allergy that prevents them from being able to receive it. Some people also are not able to develop an innate response, so it is crucial for their survival to have others around them vaccinated.

My husbands mom freaked out when one of his brothers got the MMR vaccine and was sick for like a week (he is fine now, his immune system was just working!) and she refused to allow the rest of her kids the vaccine (she's was a nurse and had 6 kids). Ultimately, my husband eventually got kicked out of a private school he was attending because he didn't have it. They have each had to go on their own as adults to get it.

Please please please talk to your doctor and not trust WebMD or some other internet source. 
There's a risk to literally everything we do. From the second you leave the hospital, you put your child in a moving vehicle trusting yourself and other drivers that no one will cause an accident and you'll make it home safe. You're more likely to get on a car accident, than have issues caused by vaccinations. 
Do your research from legitimate sources, talk to your primary care doc, your OB, and your child's pediatrician. Don't just read scary stories off the Internet!

Some doctors will do delayed or modified schedules. We won't do that but it's an option. Also, consider herd immunity for children that medically can not get vaccinated. It works because everyone else gets vaccinated. When lots of people start refusing vaccines for non medical/religious reasons, herd immunity goes away and puts those medically compromised kids and huge risk.

Can you imagine the risk you're putting your child at for not getting him/her vaccinated against diseases/viruses? How detrimental it would be for a child to be exposed to something possibly deadly at such a young age? Or the fact that you could put other people's children at risk who are not yet at the age to obtain certain vaccinations. Home schooled or not, your child will come into contact with other people and other people's children.

Please don't listen to celebrities or Internet myths. I totally understand it can absolutely seem scary from the misinformation out there, and you want to do what is right for your child. But those sources are just not accurate. All studies done to validate the vaccine-autism link have shown zero correlation. It just isn't there. Trust your doctor, talk to them about your concerns and let them explain the reality to you. There is nothing to fear from vaccines and plenty to fear if you don't vaccinate. You don't want to put your baby needlessly through whooping cough... Or infect another child too young or immune-compromised due to cancer or some other illness who can't get vaccinated and may die from the illness spread by your child.
