What’s wrong with my messages?

I’m over a year post breakup after dating a man who really didn’t treat me well. I really want to go on some dates now and was recommended the hinge dating app by my friends

I’ll send a like with an interesting comment on their profile. And try and be engaging and they never ever respond after the first message, it’s happened about 60 times now and I’ve not got a date so can anyone tell me what’s wrong

Like this morning, I came across a man on hinge who is just my type. A university professor with a prompt that said ‘one thing I learnt is that London cabs have to be tall enough for a man with a top hat, all I need now is my Monacle.’

And this is what I responded. Again there’s no reply and I’m concerned what I’m doing wrong. Trying to make friendly conversation, a few messages in I can get flirty once I know the vibe but I can’t get there yet

I feel like my messaging style reflects my personality but it’s upsetting me now
