What type of plate did you use for your wedding?

I want to use plastic because it’s cheaper and the clean up is easy.
But my mom keeps telling me that real plates would be better. What are your thoughts?

Never been to a wedding where they did plastic plates. But it surely would depend an the setting and dress code if it would look odd/cheap.

We had it at a venue that provided dishes as part of the catering cost. They were real plates and we didn’t have to do any clean up because they had staff for that.

Is your reception a picnic or bbq style get together? Otherwise it's going to look and feel cheap.

Never been to a wedding without real plates. There are so many options now and it really depends on your setting the catering. You can rent or try buy and sell groups for weddings are a great resource and thrift shops. I've been to a ton of weddings and seen so many plates options but never a circumstance for not real plates.

Like the other comment says, depends totally on the vibe. We got some of the higher end plastic plates for ours but we just did a cocktail hour with heavy apps and snacks. We also had an rustic outdoor venue with a variety of sitting options vs tables and chairs.

Well I think that depends. Mine was at a restauant private room, so theirs were used. How many people are you expecting? Would you be renting or buying real plates, and if youd be buying, would you have good use for them after the event? Is the wedding at a home with a dishwasher or now you have to transport dirty dishes? Ive seen some elegant plastic ones at places like Costco or amazon that are white with silver or gold trim, if it's a lot of people or not with a dishwasher then I would just use plastic, I dont think guests care.
