20 Week Ultrasound: Girl or Boy?

TLDR: Ultrasound tech said boy. Bloodwork said girl. What do you think?

I am 23 weeks pregnant today. This is an image from my 20 week ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was an intern and said that she believes it is a boy, but wasn’t completely confident in that statement because she couldn’t see a penis (only what she thought was a scrotum). Due to other findings during the anatomy scan it was recommended by my midwife to do genetic bloodwork testing. I asked for the bloodwork to also check for gender as the technician was unsure.

The bloodwork results came in last week and good news is the baby looks healthy all around! Low risk for everything that was checked via the blood. The bloodwork says that we are having a girl. I’m just not sure what to believe and my emotions have been everywhere! I really am happy with either gender, I’m just going crazy with not knowing!

This is my second baby. Our first was a boy and his 20 week scan gender image looked quite different than this one does, but this doesn’t really seem to look like any of the girl images I’m seeing online.

I have my 24 week appointment next week. I’m going to talk with my midwife and see what her opinion is and maybe we will get a surprise ultrasound to take another look 🤷‍♀️

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? What gender do you all think this baby is?
