Last summer, my partner & I were given very little hope when we visited a highly recommended fertility clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland. We had been trying to conceive for 2 years. The main factor against us in their opinion was my age. After my fertility screening, they discovered that my fertile age was about 41-42 but the only option would be <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IUI</a> as <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a> is not offered to a woman my age in spite of my positive results. Later we discovered my partner had a very low sperm count & they recommended we wait a few months to re-test to hopefully receive better results. At this stage, we were never given the option of sperm donation, once again because of my age. Egg donation was even recommended but we would have to do this abroad as it's not permitted here. Fortunately my partner had more encouraging results & surprisingly his specialist recommended ICSI which my gynecologist somewhat reluctantly approved  while cautioning us to prepare for disappointment. Throughout the treatment my results surprised the specialists as they expected a very low response because of my age yet again! Finally we ended up with 6 follicles, 4 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised & 3 embryos implanted on day 2 (even though they initially recommended a maximum of 2). We convinced ourselves that quality is much more important than quantity. And much to everyone's surprise my blood test was positive & I'm now 5 weeks pregnant! My beta levels were even high so my partner's hoping for twins! Throughout the treatment (which unfortunately took place during the holidays), I stayed realistic yet positive & calm believing in my ability to conceive. I received acupuncture, ate fertility enhancing foods (like pineapple, nuts, seaweed), practiced visualisation & fertility yoga, prayed to fertility Goddesses & even used the fertility crystal rose quartz. Of course, this is just the beginning but how blessed we feel at the start of a new year! Sending you all baby dust! 😚💫✨
